New to card design? Watch our quick tutorial to see how you can create a stunning loyalty card in minutes:

Welcome to VeeCard! This guide will help you understand Membership Cards—a powerful tool to offer paid memberships with exclusive benefits and discounts.
What is a Membership Card?
A Membership Card allows you to create paid membership programs where customers pay upfront to enjoy special perks for a defined period. Unlike loyalty cards that reward repeat visits, membership cards provide upfront benefits in exchange for a membership fee.
Sample Membership Offer
Deposit $100 to enjoy VIP membership for 12 months. Get 20% off on every visit.
When to Use a Membership Card vs Other Card Types
VeeCard offers several card types. Choose a Membership Card when:
- You want to sell a subscription or membership (e.g., gym membership, salon VIP club, co‑working space access).
- Benefits are tied to a time period (e.g., 6 months, 1 year) rather than per‑visit stamps or prepaid balance.
- You want to grant exclusive discounts, early access, or member‑only services.
Compare with other card types:
- Loyalty Card – Reward customers with stamps/points for each visit; redeem after collecting enough.
- Tiered Loyalty Cards – Loyalty with tiers (e.g., Silver, Gold, Platinum) that unlock better rewards as customers reach higher tiers.
- Prepaid Package Card – Sell a fixed package (e.g., “10 haircuts for {cur}200”) that customers use until the package is exhausted.
- Prepaid Balance Card – Customers top up money onto the card and spend it gradually; like a gift card with a cash balance.
Setting Up Your Membership Card
You can create up to 4 different membership plans for a single card design. Each plan defines its own benefits, validity, and price.
1. Access Membership Plans
Navigate to: Card Design Panel → Modify → Membership Plans
Here you can Add, Modify, or Delete membership plans.
2. Add or Modify a Plan
When you click Add or Modify, a pop‑up window appears with the following fields:
- Plan Name – A name for your internal management (not shown to customers).
- Plan Details – Describe the benefits and how the membership works. This text will be displayed on the customer’s card under “Membership Details”.
Example: “VIP members enjoy 20% off every service, free coffee on each visit, and priority booking.”
- Validity – Choose how long the membership lasts:
- Fixed Period – e.g., 12 months. The card is valid for that period after activation or renewal.
- Fixed Dates – Define specific Start and End dates. The card is valid within that date range after activation or renewal.
3. Customize the Details Section
In the Details Section of the card design, you can choose which information appears on the customer’s card:
- Membership Details (the text you entered in “Plan Details”)
- Rewards Earned
- Start Date
- End Date
- Terms and Conditions
- Your business links (address, phone, email, website, social media)
These details help customers understand their membership and contact you easily.
4. Set Up Customer Information (More Options)
In the More Options Section, decide what personal information you require from customers:
- Name – Mandatory for membership cards. The customer must provide their name within 24 hours of card registration. After that, the name field is frozen to prevent misuse.
- Email – Optional.
- Phone – Optional.
This information helps you personalize the membership and communicate with members.
How to Issue a Membership Card
Issuing a membership card follows the same process as other VeeCard cards:
Step 1: Customers Get the Card
- Scan the card template QR code (from your in‑store device, flyer, or badge).
- Tap the card creation link sent via email or SMS.
Step 2: Registration & Name Setting
- Customers sign up with Apple or Google (one‑tap registration).
- A pop‑up asks them to set or confirm their Customer Name (required for membership cards).
- They have 24 hours to provide the name; after that the field is locked.
Step 3: Activation by Staff
- Before the card can be used, your staff must activate it.
- In the staff app, scan the customer’s card QR code to open the Reward hub.
- Tap the ⋮ (more options) menu in the top right corner, choose the appropriate membership plan, and confirm activation.
- The card then becomes active and its validity period starts.
Step 4: Using & Managing the Card
- Customers present their digital membership card from Apple Wallet or Google Wallet at each visit.
- Your staff can verify the card’s validity and apply the member benefits (e.g., discount).
- You can track active memberships in VeeCard Home → Search Customers.
Renewals & Expirations
- When a membership expires, you can either:
- Renew it – Select a membership plan (same or different) to extend the validity.
- Delete it – Go to
VeeCard Home → Search Customers → Filter expired cards and remove the card.
- Expired cards remain visible in the “Expired” filter until you take action.
Best Practices & Tips
- Create clear plan names internally so your team can easily identify each membership type.
- Use the “Plan Details” field to spell out exactly what the member receives—this builds trust and reduces confusion.
- Promote your membership by placing QR codes at checkout, on your website, and in email newsletters.
- Remind customers to save the card to their wallet immediately after registration, and show them how to view the membership details.
- Set a calendar reminder to review expiring memberships a few weeks before they end, so you can offer renewal incentives.
